FAQ – Learn what makes each pearl unique and how your reveal works.
What type of pearls are inside the oysters?
Our oysters contain real Akoya pearls, which are saltwater-grown pearls known for their beautiful shine and classic look.
What are Akoya pearls, and why are they considered a jeweler’s favorite?
Akoya pearls are often called the classic pearl. They are nearly perfectly round and have an incredible natural luster, which makes them ideal for jewelry and a favorite among jewelers.
Why are pearls called “living gems”?
Pearls are the only gemstones created by a living creature. Each pearl forms naturally inside an oyster over time, making every single one truly unique.
Are the pearl colors natural?
Yes and no — all pearls are real and naturally formed inside the oyster.
Our Coastal Classic oysters contain pearls in their natural colors, just as they are formed.
Our Tropical Color Splash oysters feature pearls that have been gently dyed to achieve their vibrant colors. This process enhances the look while still starting with a real, naturally formed pearl. Each pearl is unique, and whether natural or color-enhanced, every reveal is part of the experience.
Can I choose my pearl color?
Pearl color is always a surprise — that’s part of the pearl reveal experience! No two pearls are exactly alike.
Is it possible to find more than one pearl in an oyster?
It’s rare, but yes — sometimes an oyster can contain TWINS, which makes the reveal extra exciting!
How does the pearl reveal experience work?
You can choose to have your oyster opened live with us, or have it shipped sealed so you can open it yourself at home. The choice is always yours.
How should I care for my pearl?
Pearls should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth after wearing and stored separately from other jewelry to protect their shine.
Can I wear my pearls outside or in warm weather?
Yes! Pearls can be worn and enjoyed daily. Just avoid harsh chemicals, perfumes, and prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
